Greetings All:
Just figured I list out the Spring open track events and driving schools in the area. If you need any help with links or signing up let me know, I'll give you a hand?
April 8-9 MFBA (Midwest F-Body Association) at Road America Elkhart Lake, WI. I believe there now is some form of instruction available at this event? This is the single greatest concentration of Z06's on the planet!!! :bna: My kind of track event!!! ;)
April 15-16 (Easter Weekend) Midwest NASA at BFR (Blackhawk Farms Raceway) South Beloit, IL American Iron races, HPDE 1, 2, 3 & 4. Time Trials and a few other run groups of specialized interest.
April 29-30 Windy City BMW Club Driving school at Road America. You don't have to have a BMW but you DO have to be a BMW Club member. ($30.00 or something like that?) They have an 85 MPH speed limit entering the Kink for all student groups.
Some food for thought for you Track Dawgz that just can't seem to get enough!

SVTOA 5/20 & 5/21 at AutoBahn

I figured I'd just start with the April events for now? :D
What group are you running in for the F-body event? Are you gonna help me with them Z06's?? ;)
Hi Bruce:
I'm gonna do my best on the "BowTie" group. I'm running group 3 at MWFB. I would like to get move into group 4 maybe next year, and move on later to get a competition license through NASA.
Will you give me a little coaching and maybe a ride along???
Marv is putting the MM Grip Box on, cage, brakes, seats, radiator
and a few other goodies on. He promised me an improvement in my 2:47 time at RA!!!:bna:

Rides in my car get pretty backed up. I've got a lot of friends and family wanting rides which includes 3 Nephews I've hooked pretty hard on OT! Possibly the first run of the day might work? People sometimes have a hard time getting up there early in the morning?
I can certianly ride with you if you're in group 3 providing I don't have a bunch of work to do on the car? I'm pretty sure it's doable?
Have you ever had instruction at Road America? If not I can get you about 4-5 seconds right there? If you ran 2:47 before the work Marv is doing you could be looking at another 5-6 seconds give or take. Once you reach about 2:40 the seconds come off very slowly and you start using up brakes and tires like you won't believe!! :(
YMMV

By all means have Bruce ride shotgun with you in your car. I've rode with him many times at RA and thought I knew the line. But when he rode with me in my car, I was amazed at the mistakes I was making that he pointed out. After just 1 session, I was able to get much more comfortable and smoother on the track. Bruce is the Road America master!!!:allhail:
Your car is coming along quite well. It'll be ready to rock soon!!!

I'll be so damn happy if I bust 2:40 this summer at RA:bna:
Bruce, if time permits, I would really appreciate a ride along for any tips you can share with me!
For any of you that have thought about this open tracking stuff...
It's an absolute gas:D
Join in... we can always use some help beating down them ZO6's!

There is NO DOUBT you will break 2:40 if you're running 2:47 now! :shft
I'll make sure it happens. I don't want to be the only Mustang out there that the Z06 crowd hates!!! :hbomb:

Seems like I've already advanced to going through tires and brakes like crazy... you mean there's more:confused:
I would enjoy being the "Black Death Snake"

Running 2:47, you aint seen squat as far as tires and brake parts go! Pushing a car hard through the Carousel is like driving on a cheese grater! :p
I think you need a better name for your car? Black Death's already been taken?!!? :( How about the Serpent of Death!??! Or maybe Darth Terminator? Or Darthinator?! :p Get creative with it! :allhail:
I'll figure something out... VENM-izer??:wtf:
Hey, I got the SNW Milwaukee Mile info in the mail today. Originally I was planning on that event until I talked to a few people that said the track is pretty rough. I understand they have repaved the entire track. Would you chose SNW or SVTOA at AutoBahn???
Your opinions are appreciated here:)

I'm working with the Milwaukee Mile and SCCA principals on a design for permanent barriers within the infield road course to make the track safer for drivers and workers. Great Lakes Sport Car Club has a tentative contract for MCSCC Time Attack and W-T-W races on May 19 thru 21. Unfortunately, this work has little chance of being done by that time, so that race contract may need to be nullified within the next month. I further understand that the SFP budget will defer the final asphaltic surface to be placed in October of this year. However, they did some milling of the infield to "smooth-out" some bumps (not sure where). This spring, they will also install SAFER barrier along the oval turns.
On April 19, GLSCC will be sponsoring a "tire wall" day. After assembling tire barrier attenuators, we will eat pot luck and then get to spend some open track time on the oval and infield road course. I will check to see if this offer can be extended to NWS and SVTOA volunteers. ;)
Thanks for the update!
Appears the track is not all that the SNW newsletter said it is.
I've never driven the track but, a few mentioned rough and unsafe.

I walked the track last August after they repaved both blends to the infield course. They were greatly improved and nice and smooth. I would say that things are EXACTLY as stated in the NWSC newsletter. In addition, now the SAFER barriers have been completely installed. Please see the attached link.

Thanks Mark for the link. The Mile has also purchased 1,700 linear feet of FIA approved interlocking barrier, doubling their previous footage. They have also removed the 2 telephone poles on the North end of the infield as well has repositioned corner worker stations.
Sounds like the new ownership is getting it done right. :bna:
