Is there any trick to removing the plug in the coolant crossover tube on a 97 cobra. I want to install my temp gage in the plug area and have not had any success in removing it.

Try using a 1/4 inch rachet in the square hole in the top and grip the outside of the cap with a Vice-Grip. Turn both at once. That will usually break loose even the worst ones. If that doesn't work, use a little heat on the tube. That will damage the O-Ring inside, but I have a couple used caps if you need one.

Marv thanks for the info. Any idea on the thread size of the plug?

When I put the temp sender in mine, I drilled and tapped the cap. It was for a Autometer electric sender, they seem to be pretty small. The threads in the cap/crossover are not pipe thread, so the adapters with the guage will not tighten properly. Either go in the block drain on the lower left of the motor, or someone on SVT Performance sells a adapter to go in the crossover tube. Run a search, it should be easy to find. Marv Z:beer:

Heat worked the trick. I am planning on drilling and taping the plug out for my install

There is a guy out East that sells a brass fitting to go right in there for a temperature sensor.
I'm pretty sure I found it on the SVTOA National website? You may have to do a search?
It was like $19.00 I think? Was a pretty slick installation!
