Just wondering how many have swapped out the factory mid-pipe & cat's (w/wo) or are planning on it or even feel it's ness. for more HP.

I'm trying to plan out an exhaust for my car . I like the Stinger's but I'm think they are to loud for me (my car is a vert.) . So I started looking into a reg. Borla cat-back (part #14858) which are on a nat'l back order (could go with the Steeda vers. but no nice 4" rolled tip's)

My 00GT vert had a Magnaflow and might do that again, I'm only going to do the CB 1st , maybe next year the mid pipe if need be.

I want a nice low deep mellow tone , I don't need to be heard a half a block away by the cop sitting there.....been there , done that !!

The general consensus on these cars is the catback will get you 20-25 Hp and the H or pipe only 5-10. Most of the cars I've done stay with the stock cats and have no problem making 450- 475 RWHP. Only when you get above 500 hp, do you need to start looking at headers/ H-pipes. On a normal street car, I recomend keeping the cats on. A 2.76 or 2.93 pulley with a good tune and air intake/ Exhaust mods will give you more HP than you can use on the street. Of course race cars are another story. I do have Borla Stingers as well as a Bassani Extreme Street system in stock. The Bassani has full size mufflers instead of the straight thru resonators on the Stingers. It should be more civilized. I have the Stingers on my own car and just love them. Call me if you need any info. Thanks!!!!

FWIW (since I don't own a late model Cobra and exhaust sound is so subjective), I've only heard the Magnaflow and Borla Stinger systems on Cobra's. Between the two, I like the Borla. Nice at idle and part throttle and all business at wot. I never heard the Bassani on a Cobra but they are known for high quality, mellow sounding systems (until you push the loud pedal that is).

Adding high flow mid-pipes will only add a little hp as Marv said but they will turn up the volume of the exhaust quite a bit no matter what cat-back you have.

I am sure you will have plenty of opportunities to hear both the Magnaflow and Borla systems at the next 3 events - Pistol Pete's, Cruise & BBQ and the dyno day. I hope you can make at least one of them. Besides, I don't think we've seen your new baby yet.

Thank's guy's , I that sound's pretty logical about the mid-pipe . I'll hold off on that.

I just have to decide on a CB, I do want stainless steel though since I noticed that my other car's have got damp/wet underneath during the wonderfull temp. flexes we have in Wi.

I've been on/off here and SVT Perf. but have not had alot of seat time in my car. I did go out Sat. nite w/wife for an ice cream with the top down , but due to her health (breast cancer, but doing well and fully recovering) and other family obligation's with trying to clean out my Grandpa's house after he passed I've had my hand's full.

The car goes in next monday for a little touch up paint work that my buddy's going to do for me on the front bumper.

I'll be in touch and we'll talk soon.

If you want stainless I'd recommend bassani, borla14858, or mac flow path's. I read that mac now makes stainless flowpaths. These will all sound deep. I'd say from loudest to quietest would be bassani-mac-borla14858. I think you'll be happy with any of these. I personally have MRT catted h + stingers(I like loud), very happy with this combo.

I'll verify that astippich's set up is loud!
I am partial to my quieter Magnaflow catback. Nice and quiet when I want it to be, like when driving home through my neighborhood, but still louder than stock at all times.

I agree Dave , I still want to check out your car. Like I said I had Maggie's before and liked them and the sound and performance. I seriously considerng them again.

I am thinking that the BBQ and cruise at the end of the month might be a good chance for us to hook up, plus there should be a lot of other exhaust combos there for you to check out. I still have not decided if I will do the BBQ/cruise, but I am working on it.
I am planning on taking my car over to Marv's that night anyway for him to do some work on it the next day, so prospects are looking good!

Dave , I just ordered a Magnaflow since I'm familiar with them and know what I'm getting. I also ordered a MGW Shifter & K&N FIPK .

What kind of goodie's being done by Marv ????
