View Full Version : WISVTOA Dyno Day - Michels Performance - July 9 - 8:00 AM

BlueOvalBolt
06-06-2005, 11:34 AM
After many requests for a test and tune day at a dyno, we now have lined one up. It will be held at Michels Performance in Hubertus starting at 8 AM.

We will be doing 2 pulls with A/F ratios for $60.00. If you require additional dyno time for tuning, the charge will be an extra $15.00. Additional pulls are avaliable for $25.00.

For those people with SCT/Superchips tunes, Marv will be on hand with SCT tuning equipment and can adjust your SCT tune for free whether you bought the tune from him or not (thanks Marv!). He will also have SCT tunes available for sale as well.

To make this work, we will need at least 12 cars. Please sign up in this post if you are interested. Once we have an idea of who and how many, we will begin to schedule everyone.

Michels is at 3045 Beechwood Industrial Court in Hubertus which is roughly 1 block south and a block west of Hwy. 175 & Hubertus Road.

Hope to see you there!

Marv:
I have a magnaflow catback, and K&N FIPK. No other performance mods yet.
Would it make sense for me to get the SCT EXCal 2?
How much would it cost? Would I see a signifcant bump in power?
Dave

SCT is claiming 15-20 RWHP with no other changes on a stock 4.6. Pullied ones will gain 60-70 hp along with the pulley swap. The EXCal 2 also allows you to lower the cooling fan on points, turn the traction control off, adjust for rear axle ratio's etc. Your car will never out grow it's ability to adjust. It works on a stock vehicle as well as a 700 hp full race setup. Cost is $400 to you, no shipping costs.

SCT is claiming 18 HP and 25 ft-lbs rear wheel for a 05 GT auto. I haven't flashed a 05 yet, so I can't verify that claim. But theres one way to find out. Let's put it on the dyno and find out!!!!! I just received my second order of X-2's, so let me know if you want to reserve one.:shft

I plan on being able to make it. If possible I would like a 10:00 time slot because we have (not one but) two Graduation parties to go to that day! (Jeeze, they are as bad as weddings these days?!!? )

Hoping Marv can get me boosted over the 400 RWHP barrier I've been up against!

As soon as we know who's all coming, We will start making a time schedule. So if you want a special time slot please post it. We've got Bruce at 10am and Dean at 9. We should be able to do 2-3 cars an hour. I want to allow a little extra time to do custom tuning if needed. Thanks!!! Marv Z:shft

10am to12pm will is fine. I will come early, so if you want to squeeze me in earlier that's ok. Also, Jim Brinks would like to get his car on the rollers, we should be there 9 or 10am.

Marv

I think your lucky if your able to do 2 cars an hour much less 3. I base this on the time I went there last fall. Granted there was no hurry to do the pulls but the 2 pulls I did took 45 min. At least I will have a baseline to compare to the new tune.

I'll call you about the SCT tuner.

My car has some minor mods and I'm interested to see whats its doing for RWHP now.
Mods:
Steeda CAI

Magnflow Axle backs
Tri-Axe Shifter
BMR Rear lower control arms
the rest is all cosmetic

P.S. Marv, I am stoked about how much the pulley and tune woke my car up, Since i can't help myself from punching it every 20 seconds, my tires won't be lasting much longer, rubber is on it's way.

I'm in and open to any time.

Kinda nervous about it, never did it and never seen it done. I might just have to have one of you guy's run it for me since there is not tuning to be done at this point.

Would a tune benefit me at this point with these mod's ?? I was going to wait until next year and do a tune and pulley. I'm just trying to get this car paid off fast so have been somewhat conserving the cash/mod money (although Karen Disagree's).
I would rather have Marv do some sub frame's first .

Do you think with my Magnaflow CB and K&N FIPK I'll be able to come close to 400 rwhp ???

What % of HP is lost from the flywheel to the rear wheel's on these car's ???

I would like to go too. I have never done anything with the group but want to, just been to busy. The 9th I do have open. I never seen this done but am excited to watch and dyno. Just bought parts and I'm not sure if I should baseline first then add them or just put them on and go for the whole thing.

Anyone have the address???

Just a note to clarify some things. This schedule is in no way designed to include or exclude anybody. It's just a way to show whats going to happen at certain times. I tryed to include everybody who requested a specific time. If you would like me to schedule a certain time, please let me know. Otherwise just come on down, hang out, have some lunch and we'll get your car on the dyno. We'll take cars as they come in and take them in order from there. Hope to see you there!!!! Marv Z :)

I'll be there to run on the dyno. Will we be able to get the computer dyno file on disk as well as a graph printout of the torque curves and a/f? I want to use it to compare with my what wideband setup reads. Time isn't all that important to me as long as it's before late afternoon.

Ran back to back 12.5's on Friday. So, its not just a fluke for me.
However, I have no changes since my last tune 3 years ago.

Well, it was a kind of a long day due to some glitches here and there :bash: but in the end we ran 18 cars through.

All in all it was a very educational day as we all found out a little more about our vehicles. Top HP honors for the day go to Bill in his 10th Anniversary Cobra. He ran a disappointing (at least to him) 538 hp due to some fuel delivery issues. Once that gets sorted out, he should be at the 600 hp mark as he was expecting. Other than that, most everyone was between 400 and 450 hp a the rear wheels. Not bad!

Thanks to everyone who came out. We had a number of spectators who came just to watch and shoot the breeze which was great. There were a couple of new people show up as well, hope to see you at future events.

I want to especially thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we could not meet our appointment schedule that was set up. Our apologies to those few who could not wait and had to leave, we'll make sure you are taken care of the next time around. Also, thanks go to Marv for the technical assistance and advice he gave everyone, Crystal, his wife, who set up lunch and beverages for the event and to Brad Michels, owner of the garage, who worked very hard to keep things moving.

See you all next year!
