I was able to participate in Autobahn Country Club On-Track event this past weekend and it was an overwhelming success! With instructors and the race group it is estimated that over 150 cars participated both Saturday and Sunday with over 600 spectators coming out over the whole weekend! Our Wisconsin Chapter had more than 20 members participate which was by far the largest single chapter representation.

To date, we were the facilities largest car event and although there were some issues (parking and whatnot) overall the event went VERY well. With the experience that the track will gain over the summer I'd expect next years event to be even better.

Our next event is at Gingerman Raceway July 23-24 and is also the second stop on the Track Dawg Challenge. For those that don't know where Gingerman (www.gingermanraceway.com) is it is located approx 6 miles east of South Haven, MI and is a GREAT club track with plenty of run-off so there is little chance of damaging your vehicles. Registration is now open and can be done online at www.driverregistration.com . So far 23 participants have signed up so it looks like this event will be another success for SVTOA!

For those who participated you are in the running to win the Track Dawg Challenge. The challenge is to attend 3 of the 4 Great Lakes On-Track events (Autobahn, Gingerman, Waterford and Putman Park). You will then be eligible for prizes from Ford Racing, Kenny Brown, Firestone and others in addition to a chance to win your entry fees to the SVTOA Great Lakes Regional events that you have attended.

I agree with Mike, it was a great weekend in the company of some great people. Everyone seemed to really be having a great time. I think the Wisconsin contingent made a very positive statement that we enjoy our track time and are supportive of these events. Hopefully, this will help bring one of these National or Regional events to Road America or even State Fair's roval.

Personally for me, it was very nice to see the first timers having a good first experience at the track. There were nothing but grins from ear to ear when they came into the pits. They all had nice things to say about their instructors and were very amazed at what their car was capable of on track. I think that at least a few got hooked.

If you haven't been to one of these events, seriously consider it. You won't regret it.

Just thought that I would say that it turned out to be a really good weekend! Except for the fact that I didn't win one of the really cool gifts that were given away Sat. night. I had a great time and learned a whole lot about keeping an 84 GT on the track with some well used tires. I think all things considerd I didn't do to bad. Even though I did let MARV get past me once.:shft And yes to anyone who hasn't been on a track yet at one of these event's you need to try it.
A side note to Heather , you did fantastic. And thanks to Curt for being a good roomy. I hope to see all of you at the BBQ and Cruise.

Dan
