Greetings All:
Mike and I had an awesome time in Atlanta!! I met a LOT of great people!!! SVTOA is in good hands with the great people running all of the local chapters!
We all got a chance to meet Tom Scarpello's replacement, George Ayers. He seems to be a very likeable guy with a dedicated attitude toward the division. He gave us a tiny bit of information regarding the '07 Cobra (or whatever it is they are going to call it?! ) and although we signed a confidentiality agreement I CAN say with complete confidence, there is NO DOUBT you will NOT be disappointed and it WILL be worth the wait!! (If I was spending twice as much to drive an '06 Z06, I'd carry some Vaseline in my glove box just in case?!?)
The Panoz program was an amazing experience. It started off with tours of their Panoz factory and the Panoz race shop!! I've never seen so much carbon fiber in my life!?!? Positively amazing tours!!!! Then to top it off we got a chance to drive the Panoz cars on the street with some of us being lucky enough to have Dan (The Man) Panoz himself riding shotgun while we hammer the throttle on his car. These are truly amazing cars with Ford power trains in them. Dan is an awesome guy treating us all like we were his best friends!! He even had to take some of us into his office to show us the video of the Monster Garage guys putting a set of wings on one of his Panoz cars and flying it (for a VERY short flight!). The show is supposed to air in June. The Panoz family owns the Chateau Elan Resort (awesome!!!) we stayed at. They also own Road Atlanta, Sebring, Mosport and ????? who knows what other tracks?!
We learned a lot about Chapter Leadership for the SVTOA clubs. I heard many attendees say this was the best CLT ever! I guess I picked a good one to go to for my first one?!?!
PS Now after this weekend, I have three more cars on my "must have" list!! Ok, one's on order already!! ;)
