For the 3rd year running, we will be meeting at Aldo's Pizzaria to watch the 47th running of the Great American Race - The Daytona 500 on February 20. There seems to be some confusion as to the start time. Nascar lists the start time at 12:00 CT but Fox and the Speed Channel list it as 1:00 PM CT. I'm thinking Nascar's time is correct as this is the usual start time for the Daytona festivities to begin. Green flag usually drops about 12:30 PM.
This year in Nascar should be interesting. Can a Rousch driver make it 3 years in a row to win the Championship? Will the new spoiler rules help in making speedway racing more interesting? Can someone, anyone, break DEI's domination of restrictor plate racing? Can Mark Martin make a run at the Championship beginning with what will be his final 500 start in his farewell tour? Will Wisconsin's own Matt Kenseth's Daytona luck change and finally do well in the 500?
I usually invite people to come early to feast on Aldo's breakfast buffet but he has discontinued it. Oh well, more room for some great pizza! The owner, Duane usually has some sort of special on pizza for our group and plenty of cold beer and soda.
We will have some great door prizes as giveaways and will be running our "driver pool" as in the past. So even if you are not a big fan of Nascar racing, come out to Aldo's and enjoy what has become a great event for both the guys and the girls.
Aldo's is at W156 N11058 Pilgrim Road, Germantown, WI 53022 (just south of Mequon Road on Pilgrim) Phone: (262) 255-7777.
