Just curious, anyone know why Ford does not produce the Falcon in the US. Great looking four door sedan. I like the Boss 290.

The "ranchero" model is strikingly beautiful. The first thought that I had when I saw it was, "Why doesn't Ford sell this as a niche vehicle?"

Maybe the right hand driver controls has a lot to do with it.

:wtf:

It's hard to get anyone in the back seat of the Cobra and while the 500 is a competent (yawn) sedan, it sure is nothing exciting. Maybe I'm just reminicing when we had a choice between Mustang, Torino's, Thinderbird SC's, Taurus SHO's ect. I have to believe Ford can move the controls. GM did it with the Holden/GTO, albeit poorly.:cbra:

Ford has been sending the Cobra to down under for some years. In doing that they simply ship left hand drive cars and then have them converted to right hand. Unless the car has been designed for either left or right hand use the conversion is very costly undertaking. Although an attractive car the Falcon probably would not garner many sales with the price increase the conversion would require let alone the safety testing and engine certifacation costs Ford would have. GM is building the GTO with left hand drive avoiding the conversion cost and possibnly designed the car originaly for such a build.

I am sure there are some production dificulties. But they just spent a lot of money developing the 500, which looks like it will not pay off (too early to tell). Can't see many here getting too excited about it either. Just wish we had a decent looking sedan that was not soooooo boring.

I must agree the Ford 500 doe not get many excited with its styling but then how exciting are many high volume cars.

Have you seen the new Fusion? Understand they will have one at the Auto Show next month. It has styling which many seem to think is exciting.
