I'm repairing the 92 Sable wagon after an unfortunate incident (crash). I'm in the process of removing and replacing the radiator support saddle, bumper, grille, right fender and hood. Parts are coming from two well-used donor cars. A new radiator was installed, tranny and coolant leverls were checked, and the car was started. It seems to run fine. However, when I turned on the lights...nothing. The taillights, brake lights, and turn signals work. However, parking lights, headlights, or "running" lights (in the grille) don't work. Before I install the sheet metal and light housings, what do I need to check? I'm pretty sure all of the ground straps are tight. Is there a relay that was damaged in the frontal crash? Do you think the wiring harness was cut/ shorted? Do the light sockets need to be installed in their housing? (I doubt this).
Any ideas will help!

There is a fuse for the headlight circuit. Check in the power distribution box under the hood. I f that's not it, let me know and I have the wiring diagrams at home. I can probably email it to you. Marv Z:)

Since I'm stuck in Lansing Michigan, I'll look at this when I get home on Saturday.
I did a lot of hammering on the front while all the lights were hanging down like a string of Christamas tree lights. I'll check the power supply after a check of all 8 light bulbs for intact filaments!
BTW, we rented an 04 Grand Marquis for our business trip in Michigan. What a great highway cruiser. Makes me think that a left-over Maurauder would be a good buy.

The front turn signal lamps were not installed in their sockets when I did my check. Once I installed the lamp sockets, most of the front lights worked!:bna:
Well most of them. There are 4 lights in the silly middle light bar on 86 thru 98 Sables. They won't work. They will stay that way.:p
Evidently, the socket for the directionals and/or corner lamps creates completion of the circuit for all front lights, including corner lamps, directionals, parking lights, and headlights.
One cornering lamp won't work, but that prolly is the bulb. At least I can drive it - as soon as I finish hanging a bumper. (I hope.) This project as been mostly...:knock:
