***Please Note Time Change***

The flyer in the attachment below does not reflect time change (can\'t edit attachment). Track opens at Noon, please see post by 347 Cobra and myself towards the bottom of the page for revised schedule of events.

Well speed freaks, you say the weather stopped you from posting your best time at the last Day at the Drags in August? Miss it the first time around? Here\'s your chance to make things right in your world! Yes, it\'s SVTOA Day at the Drags - Part Deux.:o

We will be hosting another event at Great Lakes Dragaway on Saturday, October 5. Click on the attachment below for details.

Don\'t miss this one, fall temps and low humidity should produce some great times.

Please note that pre-registration is required to receive the SVTOA discount at the gate! You can register in this thread or call me at the number in the flyer.

SVTOA Day at the Drags – Part Deux!
Join us for another day at the legendary Great Lakes Dragaway on October 5, 2002.

We will once again have a section in the pits exclusively for SVTOA members and spectators as well as tours of the tower to see what goes on behind the scenes at the track. Instruction for beginners will be readily available all day. (We have our order in for cooler temperatures!)

Schedule for day:

Track opens at 9:00 AM
Practice will be between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM
Lunch will be served between Noon and 1:00 PM
SVTOA shootout will be held at approximately 2:30 PM with trophies for class winners.
Individual instruction and tower tours throughout the day.

SVTOA event fee is $10.00 (Includes Lunch). Admission to the track is $25.00 (includes $5.00 SVTOA discount) to race and $12.00 for spectators (spectators can join us, with their cars, in the pits all day). Children under 10 enter the track for free.

PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO RECEIVE THE SVTOA DISCOUNT AT THE GATE!
To register or to have your questions answered, go to the Events forum at www.wisvtoa.com or call Chris at 414-704-6789.

Great Lakes Dragaway is located 5 miles west of Interstate 94 on Highway KR (exit 337) one mile east of US Highway 45 in Union Grove. When entering, just tell the gate staff you are with SVTOA and they will direct you to our exclusive area in the pits.

See you at Da Grove!

xbnch - Yes you can run your convertible but you have to run with the top up.

Helmets are required for vehicles that run 13.99 or better. With cool temps and 390 hp, I think you better plan on bringing one! GLD does have a limited supply of helmets to rent but any DOT rated helmet such as a motorcycle helmet will due.

Hope to see you here.

animal - Paintball is not where you need to be Oct, 5, drag racing is what you are meant to do this day. (That was my feeble attempt at a Jedi mind trick BTW).

Hope you can make it.

Count me in. Last time was a blast. Better weather,(hopefully) + more miles and more mods should equal better times for me. Oh BTW, xbnch, consider yourself formally challenged.:D:)

I don\'t remember hearing what kind of times you were posting last time we were there. What were you running in that heat and humidity?

I managed to run a 13.87@103.8mph. So the weather cost me about 2 tenths and 2 mph. As of late, this thing feels faster than that, as I have about 2600 miles on it now. Within the last few hunderd miles it has started to bust the tires lose from a first gear roll, something it hasn\'t done before now. With the advent of Fall, and the cool dry air that comes with it, this Chebbie of mine ought to skate pretty good. We shall see...:)

Planned on being there on the 5th to beat all challegers ( I mean meet) , but I have been told that because we have the \'03 COBRA Convt. we will only get to run once because if we are under 13 secs. we would need a roll bar. And we would be under 13 secs!!
Does anyone know about that? Such a long trip to beat all challengers only once!

Don\'t be to proud of that technological terror your driving,as anything can happen in a race, ANYTHING!

I don\'t know why the web address I printed below won\'t work right but if you type it into your adress bar putting ALL the numbers at the end together( for some reason this BB won\'t print it right no matter what I do) you will get to a thread I started at Blue Oval News.

I thought rollbars were required for cars under 11.99.

[b]Greg, what\'s the ruling?[b]

[b]BTW, I don\'t think you will be \"lonely\" in the 12\'s. Greg will be there with his modified 94 Cobra (did 12.7 at the last drag day I think) and there will be a couple modified Lightnings capable of getting into the 12\'s as well.[b]

DOHC 281 will be there with a DOHC 281 - but it ain\'t no Cobra :D

I am sorry for not responding sooner, and there\'s little issue that has come up, and I really hope this does not screw everyone up-

On the issue of the rollbar, convertables need a rollbar if they run 13.99 or faster. if you have a hardtop, you can go as quick as 11.59 without one, as we are IHRA, not NHRA.

Now comes the trouble (maybe)

The schedule changed for saturday, as far as outr hours of operation. We do NOT open at 9:00, PLEASE MAKE A NOTE OF THIS.
We open at 12:00 and race up to 8:00PM.
I realize that this has probably ruined a bunch of people\'s plans, but I am powerless to do anything about it.

Once again: We open at 12:00 noon, and race until 8:00 PM. One other problem is that I have to work at GLD that day, so I can\'t do much racing, if any. The upside is anyone who wants to hang out in the tower and keep me company is more then welcome.

You can hang me upsidedown and beat me with a 2x4, I understand totally. I am working three jobs these days, 7 days per week, I hope you guys can forgive me.

Oh yea, on another note, I have the car down in the 12.4 zone, 12.70\'s are history....

Due to circumstances beyond our control as described in the above post, the new schedule of events for the day are as follows:

Practice will commence at Noon and run until 3:30.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 PM

Shootout will be ran at 4 PM

Track instruction and tower tours will still be all day (please see me).

I hope everyone can still make it. If we need to move the shootout up a little to better accomodate the groups evening plans, please let me know.

I think so. Right now I\'ve just got a few cable ties around it tightly through the bend. It hasn\'t reached temperatures like it did that day at the track since, so I\'m not 100% sure if it solved the problem, but I haven\'t had any problems.

Just one question. I\'ve got a friend or two who are not Ford owners who are planning on coming along. Would it be possible for them to get in on lunch?

That won\'t not be a problem. They are more than welcome to tour the tower as well if they would like.

Yeah, I had a great time, too. I\'ve got a handful of time slips in the 13s, so I\'m feelin\' good. Still had a little trouble with the CAI piece collapsing, but nothing too major.

Oh, I don\'t suppose anyone picked up a black and tan bag from the SVTOA tent.

What a great day we had. My son too. To all who didn\'t make it u missed some fun stuff. Try it, you can\'t hurt these machines, they are built for speed. At 60 I still can have fun, after everything was over my son took my 2003 Cobra out to beat his Dad\'s time. He DIDN\'T, ha, ha. Not use to shifting I guess? He has a Lightning :):)

Those young kids are always surprised to learn that dad still has a few tricks left. I couldn\'t help but notice how much fun you guys were having.

My question is how much faster were you? Lightining vs Cobra and Cobra vs Cobra.

I had a great time as well. I\'d have liked to be able to make more than a run every hour, but I understand how it goes when there\'s a bunch of events all day and someone oils up the track. It\'s hard to remember exactly how you launched between that long period of time. I plan on going back on a tuesday night since I\'ve been told there\'s no other events going on that day of the week.

No, really, Mike has it if he hasn\'t already e-mailed you about it. Thanks for coming.
