Marv has made arrangements for us to tour the famous Bob Perkins Mustang facility. Bob is nationally recognized as one of, if not the, premier restorer of earlier model Mustangs, particularly the Bosses if I am not mistaken. His shop also has numerous old and rare Mustangs and Mustang memorbilia on display.
We will begin by meeting at Griffin Ford and taking a back road cruise to get there. A time has not been set yet as Bob is getting back with Marv with that.
So reserve this date on your calendar and get those camera batteries charged up as this will be an event to remember. :bna:
EDIT: We will be meeting at Griffin Ford at 11:30 AM Sunday, September 12 to cruise to Bob Perkins. We are scheduled to arrive there at 1:00 PM.

Now that sounds really cool. Where is Bob Perkins facility located?

About nine miles north of Watertown on STH. 26. He really has a nice facility up there. You will all enjoy it and Bob is such a nice guy. Too bad I'll be up north that weekend or you could all stop at Jan's and my place for a "POP"
Later Steve

Hey Guys:
This truly breaks my heart that I cannot make this event! :knock: I have been wanting to go to Bob Perkin's place for more than ten years!! It seems everytime something comes up.
My family rearranged birthday celebrations for four members because I'm going to Gingerman on the 18th and 19th of September. The day we're doing the birthdays now is the 12th.:(
I think I must have some sort of curse to never be able to make it to Bob's place!
Have a great trip everyone! I will be there in spirit!!!

OK, we got the word from Bob Perkins yesterday, he will be ready for us at 1:00 PM. We will meet at Griffin at 11:30 AM at the front showroom area. Terry has lined up a nice route to get us there.
We have also been invited for refreshments afterward at a nearby member's home but I have to firm that up today. It should be a great event.
Hope to see you there.

Like Chris said, we meet at Griffin Ford at 11:30 AM. From there, we will take the freeway system (I-94 to Freeway 16) to a secondary meeting point on CTH P (known locally as Brown Street). This should accommodate those that live west of the suburbs. The secondary meeting place, after our "transit" run, is the Piggly Wiggly grocery store located about 2 to 3 miles NE of Oconomowoc. Specifically, it is 1.8 miles north of STH 16, on CTH P, east side.
We will leave the secondary meeting point at 12:15. From there, the REAL tour begins. :D
I will guarantee that Dodge County offers some roads that you have never been on.

Steve (Syck 01L) and his wife Jan previously posted they could not make the Perkins event due to a schedule conflict. However, things have changed and they have invited us to their house for some post-Perkins refreshments. They live just minutes away and I am told they have plenty of parking. Thanks for the invite Steve and Jan.
Also, if anyone cannot make it to Griffin to cruise there with us and need to meet us at Perkins at 1:00 PM, go to http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&formtype=search&countryid=US&addtohistory=&country=US&address=N3123+State+Road+16-26&city=Juneau&state=WI&zipcode=53039&historyid=&submit=Get+Map and you can get door to door instructions.
Weather looks great for a cruise, hope to see everyone there. :shft

We will pick up the cruise at the PIG on Hy. P at 12:15PM.
Please stop for us!
:)
I don't know if you guys remember me or not, but I rode along with my dad on a cruise a while back when you guys went to Kiltie. (We were the 93 Sable LS, I'm sure it wasn't a hard car to forget since we were so slow :bna: ). Anyways, I would like to join you guys this Sunday, but I don't think I can make it to Griffin by 11:30 am since I have church (haven't gone in a while, and I'd like to go since I usually miss it because of work). In any case, is there anyway we could show up at Bob's place without going on the cruise? We could probably keep up a little better with you all now (we bought a Jaguar XJ6), but I don't think we'll make it in time for the cruise.

Adam,
By all means join us. If your driving a Jaguar you qualify for membership in SVTOA. Chris has posted a map of the destination in an ealier post to this thread or catch up with us at the pig and cruise part way.

Well, we had a great time. Bob Perkins couldn't have been a more gracious host and he had some great stories to go along with some great cars. Thanks for everyone that came. I think I counted 40 people which is our largest event turnout ever (besides the Icebreaker of course).
Thanks Terry for another great cruise route. Everyone in my cruise group was treated to a little extra touring which included a stop at an historic old church outside of Old Lebanon. The highlight of our misadventure was holding up a Camaro while our group turned itself around during another "bonus touring" leg of the trip. I'm sure we made his day. I think Dodge County needs to invest in a few more street/highway signs.
Special thanks to the guy on the motorcyle that happened to join our cruise group for awhile. As we came to a grinding halt at the church, he volunteered to escort us back to where we should have been.
Thanks to Steve and Jan for having our motley crew over for refreshments afterwards. That was just what we needed on a hot day especially for those riding with tops down or sunroofs open.
All in all, Marv put together a great event.
