Help,

My 1991 Mustang G.T. with a 5 spd will not start when the engine is hot. At cold start up it cranks real strong and starts right up. I have replaced the starter and the battery but the same condition exists. The battery cables are clean and tight and the car is bone stock. Any ideas on what to check next?

Thanks!

Is it a no/slow crank or a crank/no start? Marv Z

Is the other end of the ground cable tight?
Ran into this problem some years ago.

When engine is hot, it cranks very slowly for 1-2 seconds (as though there were a huge load on the system) and then- nothing. No start, and motor wont turn over at all. Battery still has sufficient juice to run lights radio etc. If I wait an hour after the no start, the engine will then start right up.

The negative cable that bolts to the block feels very tight but it is a bitch to get at it to remove and clean.

Sounds like a ground all right. Give me a call if you want to bring it over to look at. Marv Z 262 628 9974
