Griffin Ford will host the Wisconsin Chapter of SVTOA for its 3rd Annual Ice Breaker. New this year will be a combined SVTOA & Northwoods Shelby American Automobile Car Show from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 22nd. According to Vilas Rasmussen, General Manager at Griffin Ford, this event is geared to the automotive performance enthusiast. More than 300 enthusiasts attended last year’s event.
Wisconsin Special Vehicle Team Owners Association is the local chapter of SVTOA, a grass roots enthusiast organization supported by the Special Vehicle Team unit of the Ford Performance Division. The Northwoods Shelby Club is a top of the line enthusiast group. It is dedicated to the preservation, care and enjoyment of cars from Shelby American, such as the Cobra, GT350, GT500 and GT500KR, as well as others like the GT40, Tiger, Pantera and all models of Mustangs from 1964 to the present.
In past years a prototype of the then-to-yet-be introduced 2003 SVT Mustang Cobra was displayed and last year a Stage 3 Boyd Codington Mustang from Roush Performance was featured. This year along with along with many SVT and other Ford powered performance vehicles of special interest the world’s only 6-Speed manual SVT Lightning will be displayed. All owners of SVT and other Ford performance vehicles are encouraged to participate in the car show at the event.
In attendance will be driving instructors for SVTOA On-Track events and Northwoods Shelby Club Open-Track events. Track cars will be displayed and car preparation and event logistics for a “typical” On-Track road course event will be discussed. Other guest speakers will provide insight on how to prepare your vehicle (and yourself) for an On-Track experience or a drag racing event. In addition, Ford Master Mechanics will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the details of SVT and other Ford powered vehicles.
The Griffin Icebreaker and Car Show event is free and open to anyone interested in performance cars and trucks. Food and drinks will be available with all proceeds to be donated to America’s Second Harvest of Wisconsin the states largest food bank. With warehouses in Milwaukee and the Fox Valley it distributes more than 12 million pounds of food a year to more than 1,200 pantries, meal programs and other nonprofit agencies. These serve nearly 300,000 people on a daily basis in Wisconsin.
