Was thinking of installing the K & N CAI System but it seems from other web pages it just may void my warrenty so I guess I'll just leave it stock.
Anyone have any info. as to that??

It'd really only void the warranty claim you were trying to make. I don't know if they can just blacklist an entire warranty on an air filter. It still has to be proven that it caused the problem remember. That said, just make sure you never take it in with that on there. Always replace the stock air box and filter before taking it in. They'll more than likely never know you had it, unless they read this forum of course ;)

You'll be fine under the magnusson moss law. I took my old silverado into the dealership a few times with the K&N FIPK on it. They never once said a thing to me.:D

AS I HAVE TO TAKE IT IN FOR THE FRONT LIGHT LENS TO BE FIXED. BOTH OF THEM HAVE MOISTURE IN THEM SO THE SEAL MUST BE BAD??
ALSO WANT TO HAVE THE ENGINE TICK NOISE FIXED SO I'LL JUST LEAVE EVERYTHING STOCK FOR NOW.

:) :)

You realize that relying on that can be a real pain in the butt? They don't just bow down and say, oh you know about that? If it's something that large be prepared to fight them for it, and then you really have to be sure it can't be proven that's what caused any problem.

Like I said, take it back to stock for non-piddly/major warranty work. An engine tick where they could have to replace a cylinder head is a very good cause to take something like an air filter off, even if there is a tsb for it. They don't want to pay money any more than you do for a warranty job, why take a chance.

On a side note, i doubt a catback exhaust would be cause for any warranty claim denial besides something to do with the exhaust system.

If you can't get warranty with Mods.....
Then you need to find a new tech.

BTW, make friends with one. I know a great one in Lake Geneva....little far for most of you.

I had all kinds of junk go through warranty. 99% of it should have been warrenty too. I know the 1% that was left...well....the tech and dealership went to bat for me. :)

Anyone who denies warranty because of an air-filter does not deserve your business. period. Its called customer service, not the Warranty Police.

Jerry

You are right, but unfortunately sometimes it's tough to find one of those places. I was more giving advice to avoid it completely rather than having to search all over the place and cause a headache :)

I agree

But if you want/plan to do aftermarket applications, its a step you have to take. I know that dealerships take it better if they are the ones who install it too. Thus, I say a specific tech, because he can go to bat for you on the installion (He did it) and also will then be intimately knowledgable about what was modified.
(Also, stick to large name aftermarket stuff. Steeda, Bassani, etc....ones that have more than 5-6 years in the business.)

A dealer just wants to get paid for the work, whether thats Ford or you, most are not fussy.

I would think in this circle (WI SVTOA), someone would pipe up about a good place to go. :)

I got a guy in Lake Geneva (only one Ford Dealer there) who has a 66 Stang, and 79 Capri (with a 460 and Nitrous). So he's not afraid of the aftermarket and he likes it. Good tech for us down here.

Well if it's still stock i wouldn't think it'd matter :)

I can personally vouch for quality work done by Marv at best ford though. :)

He replaced my fog lights there for me too. (heat cracking)
