Pass the word - Another event is scheduled. :)

On Saturday, September 14, we will have a Karting Event, topped off with a night at the races. We will meet at Griffin Ford at 3:30 in the afternoon, then \"tour\" to Lake Geneva. For those that live south of Waukesha, you can meet us at the Kart Track, next to the race track. We will have full access for all of the carts, at a substantial club discount. We will divvy the costs at the track. After about an hour of Karting, we can eat at the restaurant on the grounds. Then , the Saturday night racing show. Special feature for the evening -> School Bus Races. :o

Check out the track and location at www.lakegenevaraceway.com

Let me know on this board if you (and a friend or significant other) are interested.

I\'ll be there as well.

Do we need to bring a helmet to race?

Having school bus races on September 14 sounds just about right, about 2 weeks after school starts. That explains a lot as these clowns obviously use my neighborhood for qualifying!

A flyer regarding this event (and other upcoming events) is in the mail!

I called the track today. The operators of the Karting track are affiliated with Lake Geneva Raceway and are offering \"track time\" to our club at half price, or $2.50 per 5 minute session. They have six concession karts, plus two that allow younger children to ride along with an adult. Children are defined as those less than 4 feet tall. [They don\'t know us well, do they?]

As noted in the first post of this thread, we are meeting at Griffin Ford at 3:30 PM . Some of you may want to meet us at the karting track, at Lake Geneva Raceway. We should get there as group at about 4:30. No fair practicing before the other hot shoes arrive!

After our on-track \"antics\" we have more to do.

First, eat! The restaurant on the grounds (across the road?) has graciously offered us a 5% discount. Ed Evans is the propriator. Some of his offerings vary from a two tail lobster ($19.95), porterhouse ($17.95), prime rib ($11.95 or $14.95), and various other steaks and choices. Dinners include soup, salad, and bread. He noted that dress is \"very\" casual. PLEASE TELL THE WAITRESS WHEN YOU ORDER THAT YOU ARE PART OF THE SVTOA CLUB. [Of course, your tip should be based on the service and original value of your meal.] Oh, did I mention that he also sells beer? ;)

Afterwards, we head back across the road for the Saturday night races. Yep, the school bus races are still on. :o

Rumor has it that the Wisconsin SVTOA Chapter has a video tape of the Ford announcement to dealers of a 10 year anniversary Cobra. Video is supposed to include pictures and other details. It is also rumored that the Chapter has another video from Ford used for training on the 02 and 03 SVT vehicles which along with the anniversary Cobra video will be played at the track restaurant. If true they should go well with the SVTOA Prime Rib Special being served.:s

A former mentor of mine used to say at work, long ago...

\"remember, all rumors are true, unless proven otherwise.\"

I forgot to mention that for those who want something other than the SVTOA Prime Rib you can have a Cobra Burger. Or if you order at the bar you could chew on a Chevy Hot Dog followed with the bar tenders special drink called the Lightning.:D

The tour consisted of 8 cars and 15 members and guests: Three Cobras, Two Lightnings, One SVT Focus, One Bullitt and One Zinc Yellow GT. Our route took us along the Fox River and through the hill \'n dales of four counties. Most roads included a lot of twisties.:)

We arrived at the track with friendly staff ready to serve our need for more speed. After we got over the problem of ticket sales...\"I\'m sorry, by boss said that we can not give you track time for the quoted price of $2.50 for 5 minutes. Instead, the boss said that it will be $5.00 for 10 minutes.;) \" What was even more funny was that each 10 minute session required two tickets :o.

The track was dirty and debris-filled from the \"hot dogs\" (meaning: all of us) cutting their apexes in dirt embankments that lined the track. This made the laps more challenging. Good thing that I brought the Visine. ;)

When each of our two groups were in the most competitive spirit, our friendly staff politely brought us in the pits. Yep, we got kicked out. Oh well, we all had our fulfillment of fun.

After Karting, we \"toured\" to the restaurant. OK, I didn\'t expect the restaurant to be a remodeled cow barn, so we took a small side trip through the local high school parking lot before the \"big game\", to turn around. Students had smiles on their faces from the parade of nifty cars (and trucks), much to the dismay of school officials.

The dinner was reasonbly priced and everyone was satisfied with their meals. Due to light rains, nobody stayed for the races. However, I did hear the next day that the full race program was run.

After a check of the map, Mike lead the crew back home - via the freeway to Chicago. Marv, Crystal and I had different ideas (we went the other direction) and we made it home after a stop for further libations.;)

The tour was great, Karting was fun (but not for the friendly staff), and the meal with friends was special. Do you think that if we wait another year, the friendly staff will forget who we are - so that we can do it again?:s

Thanks to Vilas, Peter, and Mike for providing all those in attendance with a poster. This poster has a beautiful 2003 Silver Cobra and the classic 1970 Boss 429. It will look great on my garage wall!:)

I have a few left over and plan on having them avaiable for those in attendance at our forthcoming events. If for some reason you can not attend any of those we have scheduled and want a poster let me know and I will try to work something out.
