The scheduled meeting was called by Chapter Director Mike Tagtow at the Griffin Ford conference room at 9:00 AM. Attendees included Mike T., Vilas R., Chris L., Mark D., Dave J., Bruce C., Tom K., Terry H., Mark L., Joel R. and Marv Z.
Treasurer Report– None. Chapter continues to operate without the need to require dues as a result of event fees and support by Griffin Ford. Members thanked Griffin Ford for the support.
Membership Report– Mike reported that there are more than 168 national SVTOA members from Wisconsin. Wisconsin SVTOA considers all resident national members as Wisconsin SVTOA Chapter members.
Old Business– Mike and Terry provided a review of activities held in 2003. Approximately 20 events were held, with most having good attendance figures. This included our highly successful Shop Talk meetings, group tours to Ford’s Centennial Celebration and attendance at Indianapolis Raceway Park On Track event, including the reception/dyno tests at Kenny Brown’s race shop. Fifteen members participated in the North Woods Shelby Club Road America open track invitation. The May 2003 Ice Breaker attendance exceeded 200 and over $800 was raised for charity. The club events continue to be generally well-attended and successful - a good sign for a two year
old club.
New Business– Terry provided all attendees a questionnaire which included a list of event types and a requested rating on a 1 to 5 scale, from “not interested” to “very interested”. Results were tallied. Go Karting events rated the poorest, with a 3.0 average (neutral interest). Road rallies, parking lot autocrosses, car shows, or touring events rated an average of 3.4 to 3.5 (neutral interest to somewhat interested). Picnics, race parties, dyno days, quarter mile, road course autocrosses, and open track events rated 3.7 to 4.1 (somewhat interested). Cruise nights, Spring Ice Breaker, and Shop Talk events scored 4.7 to 4.9 (very interested). The direction is to proceed with a mix of all event types, with a lower priority for karting, road rallies, parking lot autocrosses, or two-day road trips. Everyone seemed to like the road trips; therefore, new destinations such as the Hartford Old Car Museum and Bob Perkins restoration shops were discussed.
Ice Breaker is on again for next Spring. Griffin Ford has been asked to identify a charity of their choice for proceeds of all food and drink sales. Ford will be asked to display one of the “skunk works” SVT vehicles or maybe a new Ford GT (we are really, really are hoping for that!).
Regional events are planned or are being planned, with On Track Events scheduled for GingerMan and Indianapolis Race Park. Our club has been asked to investigate a date at Blackhawk Farms Raceway and Road America.
Everyone agreed that our web site is our best tool for communication - members expressed their gratitude to Greg Angelli for his work. Most club contacts and mailings will be handled exclusively by e-mail or by the club web site. An exception will be for the Ice Breaker Event, where mailings will be sent to reach approximately 700 Wisconsin owners of SVT vehicles.
By general consensus, no dues will be assessed for membership in the Chapter. However, members are required to fill out and sign a chapter membership application form with Mike Tagtow to participate in events. This needs to be done once during the calendar year and can be done at any one of our Chapter events. Members must first be registered as National SVTOA member.
The following positions were voluntarily filled:
Dealer Advisor– Peter Tagtow
Chapter Director/Membership Recruitment – Mike Tagtow
Assistant Chapter Director– Bruce Cameron
Activities Director– Chris Lorentzen
Assistant Activities Director - Marvin Zuimeda
Secretary/Treasurer– Terry Horst
News Editor and Historian– Mike Tagtow, Chris Lorentzen, and Terry Horst
Final Minutes prepared by Terry Horst and Mike Tagtow, December 20, 2003.
