I just didn't want Chris to get away scott free. He spilled a beer all over the roof and windshield of the beautiful detailing job on the cobra :D I couldn't get my camera in time for a picture though.

I heard that at a recent chpater event beer was used to remove swirl marks from a red Cobra. Has anyone any experience with the technique. I would like to know if it is effective and if the beer is best applied by the glass or pitcher. Also, how is the excess beer best removed from the finish.

Acutally I think it has to do with the dirt lifting power of the suds. I would think that means that by a quick dispersion of the liquid over the surface, similar to that of a quick tipping or upside-down turn of the container, one could make more suds just like those in a cup when beer is poured quickly before consumption. It is even said that placing the container on an uneven surface helps the suds move to the front of the container and is more effective at spreading out and coating full body panels. :D

If you were to have paid attention at the Detailing Workshop, you would be able to discern fact from fiction quite easily. Please make note of the following to clarify the use of beer when detailing and how it relates to proper technique.

1. Beer is to be ingested by the person applying the swirl removing product as an internal lubricant. This allows for a more enjoyable detailing experience. My profile is a testament to how much I enjoy detailing and to my level of success in employing beer as an effective lubricant. (Please note: Proper detailing etiquette dictates that said lubricant should only be consumed by those of legal age, Mountain Dew or Red Bull may be substituted if you are a minor. O'Doul's or Sharp's are acceptable substitutes for those of age although the level of euphoria when finished may be lessened).

2. It has been my experience that it doesn't really matter if this lubricant is applied by glass or pitcher as long as both are drained and refilled frequently, never allowing either to go dry (or, more importantly, warm).

3. OK, one more time . . . lots of suds (foam) in your wash solution - GOOD . . . lots of suds (foam) in your beer - BAD

4. Most responsible detailing gurus remove excess lubricant (you'll know when) by emptying said lubricant into either a wall or floor mounted porcelian fixture that is connected to the local sanitary sewer system. Removal of a swirl removal product is to be done mechanically with a buffer or in a back and forth motion by hand, with a thick terry cloth bonnet or towel. For safety reasons, it is important not to confuse the technique for removing excess lubricant with the techniques of removing swirl removal products.

I would think that means that by a quick dispersion of the liquid over the surface, similar to that of a quick tipping or upside-down turn of the container, one could make more suds just like those in a cup when beer is poured quickly before consumption. Only a product of the South Milwaukee school system could come up with this line of logic  (been there, done that). Please seek remedial help as soon as possible before it's too late.

Hope this helps.

So far everyone I've showed this thread, has forwarded it to other people, merely based on that response Chris. I must say I haven't replied because you blew me away with the SM school system comment. I just sat there laughing, unable to come up with further arguments. I'm just happy I'm not from Cudahy ;)
