I am happy to announce that we are expanding our Road Trip! summer schedule to twice a month thanks to Mike's suggestion.

So, this means our next Road Trip! is planned for July 5 at Georgie Porgie's in Oak Creek at 6:00 PM (although getting there earlier than later is highly suggested, especially since we will not have reserved parking for club members at this event). It is located at 9555 South Howell Avenue which is the corner of Howell Avenue and Ryan Road.

Here is a link to a map http://mapsonus.switchboard.com/bin/maps-maponly/usr=~3f04a263.79233.42b0.7/c=5/refsrc=onwisconsin/isredir=1/

Saturday nights at Georgie Porgie's is the Southside's version of Wayne's Drive In Thursday nights. It has been the hot Saturday night gathering place for car guys (and gals) for many years. They offer the usual drive in type of food and custard and play music in the parking lot.

Here are some thoughts and directions from animal who is a regular at Georgie's:

Directions from South:

I-94 North Exit Ryan Road. Turn Right (east) on Ryan Rd. First stoplight will have a McDonalds (13th Street), continue straight, you'll go under the railroad bridge, and it's the entrance before the stoplights (Stoplights are on Howell ave and Ryan Road). If you miss this entrance, you can turn right (south) on Howell and there's more entrances there. Georgie Porgies is out behind the bank in the little strip mall right next to Gary's Beer n Liquor.

From North:
I-94 South of the Airport Exit on Ryan Road. Turn Left (east) on Ryan Road. After you come over the hill (you'll be crossing over the freeway) you'll see the McDonalds up on the Left (13th Street). Continue straight, you'll go under the railroad bridge, and it's the entrance before the stoplights, about a 1/4 mile after the railroad bridge. (Stoplights are on Howell ave and Ryan Road). If you miss this entrance, you can turn right (south) at the stoplights on Howell and there's more entrances there. Georgie Porgies is out behind the bank in the little strip mall right next to Gary's Beer n Liquor.

You should be able to see georgie porgies on the right about 1/4 mile after you go under the railroad bridge.

I kinda figured, the grass between Howell and Gary's Beer n Liquor fills up last, maybe we could all park on the grass there and kindof take over our own section. It'd look kinda cool if we all parked together.

Anyways, If it rains not many people show up there, but we could still go. Most people do go into Gary's and grab a six pack for the show And georgies food is pretty good. Kinda like kopps. Hope to see you all there.

Hope to see you all there!

Granted Terry didn't plan this one so maybe it won't rain :D

Well, in all fairness, Terry didn't plan Pistol Pete's. That was me.

We have gone from rain man to rain men selecting event dates. Maybe if we had some female input on dates could miss the infrequent rains we have been encountering.

Yes, I've been having trouble with that too. + now I've really been kicking myself over not being able to be present for Chris's demonstration of his new detailing technique!!:hbomb:

Since you have doubled the events, do you have a new list generated? I like to have something to show the wife in order to substantiate my solo departure from the house. The piece of paper from the Ice Breaker has done well so far.

Or did I miss a post?

Well, no, not yet. This second event per month was kind of a spur of the moment thing. We will try to have more than 2 weeks notice for them as they come up in the future though. ;)

I'd kinda like to get people there between 5 or 5:30... I will probably be there even a little earlier than that. I want to try and grab the grass closest to howell ave (between gary's beer & liquor and Howell ave) It usually fills up last, and if we can get everyone there close to the start, we can line up the lightnings and the cobras, etc. mirror to mirror for a cool effect. I think it'd show our presence having all the svt cars lined up like that....

Lets all participate, and crash a car show!!! :)

I will be calling Georgies this week at least to find out if they'd have any special instructions... or at least so they'll maybe give us props on the microphone. Hopefully I won't describe us as a 10-20 person thing and only end up with 5 people. But I don't think it'll be a big deal as it's just a come and go car show... unorganized except for the 10 minute parking out in front of the liquor store. I will try and be there at like 4:30 or so to stake out our area. Maybe someone will want to join me so I'm not just some shmo parking on the grass when no one else is there :D

Dave:

Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make this one. :(

I have a prior commitment. Besides, I STILL :bash: don't have the exhaust together on the "R" yet!:bash: I am hoping it will be worth all of the trouble I am going through.

It won't sound like a V-6 Taurus next time you see it, guaranteed!!!:bna: :bna: :bna:

People park on the grass every week. It's overflow for the lot but usually it gets filled up and people just park on the grass.

I am going to try to get down there, Saturday nights are usually family go out the eat nights. This would be a great reason to get out of that, but don't know if I can.
Sound like this place get really packed. If I would get there later, say 7, would I be able to get a parking spot?
Maybe I will just come later and not worry about getting to park in the lot.
Hopefully will see you guys there!

It can be very packed, or it can be barely called a car show. Weather is a huge factor there (or for any show), but I've found that even rain ealier in the day can have effected the turnout. Other times the lot and the first "grassy knoll" are full and then it goes to either the driveway or the other large patch of grass.

You'll get a spot just about any time you show up. People come and go.

I guess I'm the new guy on the block and having just bought my first L I will try and make it there. I met animal about 2 weeks ago and he suggested that I come to some of the club events. So see you guys there.
