Need help to locate the 7 AM meeting place for the trip to the 100th. Were exactly is that Park & Ride Site located?? Is it south of Milwaukee??

For the group that leaves on Thursday...We will definately be meeting at a P&R Lot south of Milwaukee at 7 AM - maybe even sooner. I still need to gather some details for what happens when we get to Gingerman Raceway. It will take 4.5 hours to get there, perhaps a bit longer if we stop at the Cracker Barrel near Benton Harbor for some potatos and whatever. ;)
So, for those that want to "tour" to Dearborn via GMR, let me know of your preference for...
1. Meeting location (College Avenue or STH 165 off IH 94)
2. Meeting time (Is 7 am to early?)
3. What to do at GMR (Options will range from "spectating the On-Track Event", to "ride with an instructor", to "follow the pace car for a limited number of laps") ...I vote for the latter, but helmets will be required, and, of course, it will require unpacking and airing-up of the tires.
4. Your expectations for when we arrive in Dearborn. With the exception of "spectating the On-Track Event", we will likely miss the opening ceremonies of Ford's 100th Anniversary event, held at 4 to 8 PM.

I think we should meet south of Milwaukee at the College P & R as that way we get past Milwaukee traffic early. Plus anyone coming from Milw. is heading towards the right direction.
If we could meet by say 7 AM that might give us a little less traffic around Chicago. I hope.
Sure hate to miss the opening ceremonies for the 100th though. Is GMR the same track that is having the novice driving classes we signed up for either on Thurs. or Fri.? If it is why spend too much time there as most of us are in the novice driving stuff on Fri.? How far away is Dearborn from GMR? Could we get to Dearborn by 5-6PM?
Anyone else that is going please comment with your ideas.

GingerMan Raceway (GMR) is about 4.5 hours from MKE. Remember, we need to add an hour for DST. The trip between GMR and Dearborn is about 3 hours.
I wrote a proposal, with options, to the GMR On Track event director (Mark Wilson). We are working out the best package, to make the trip to GMR worthwhile. If we can not work out a "deal", then I would say that you will get to see the opening ceremonies since we would not stay long at GMR. However, I'm hoping that we will get some "seat time" at GMR, in which case we would need to blow off the opening ceremonies.
When I get a response from Mark, I will post it here.
Meanwhile, we WILL MEET at the P&R Lot at I-94 and College Avenue. This is just south of the Airport Freeway Spur. There are TWO P&R Lots! WE WILL MEET AT THE P&R LOT IN THE SW QUADRANT - not the one in the NE quadrant. I'm leaning toward a 7 AM meeting time. I don't want to be late for our GMR "appointment". We can take the Tri-state Tollway to avoid Chicago traffic. ;)

And is the Wed. group meeting at the same place? And time? Mike?

Wednesday group will probably follow the same plan as for Thursday. Thursday plans remain fluid. We are awaiting a response from the folks running the Gingerman event.

Thanks but we are meeting friends on the way. We went that way for the experience last time and came back through Chicago. The UP was longer (only a litte for us) but a much more pleasent ride. We gotta get you guys north sometime, somehow :)

Will see some of you on Weds. morning. I need to talk to Marv, to see if he is going to get the gears in that quick. Mike I tried to change my track time to Thurs. but couldn't so I will be on track Fri. I still have some rooms reserved that I won't need, so if anyone knows of someone have them give me a call. I will dump them next Monday. Other question is what hotels are most people staying at? Since I have a choice thought I would stay as close to the rest of the gang as possible. Make sure that we have good directions for the park and ride, not to familar with the area. Can contact me at 262-646-5910

Ok, I have more information. :D
Jeff Lacina and Mark Wilson will allow us to hit the track (GingerMan Raceway, or GMR) under "lead-follow" rules. I think all we need to do is show up, sign the waiver, unload our cars, and line up for a short, moderate speed OnTrack driving session. From there, we will probably hang out together as spectators for, ~45 minutes. Then, Hit the Road for Dearborn, by way of Kalamzoo.:bna:
For those that want to, they can register at their hotel. Some may want to go directly to the Opening Ceremonies at World HQ, which start at 4 PM. I checked the web site - I'm not sure what this entails. Might be worth it, might not.
Here is our itinerary. Times on this side of the lake are CDT, other side is EDT....
6:45 AM - Meet at the I-94/College Avenue Park and Ride Lot - the one in the southwest quadrant of the interchange. This is the first exit south of the Airport Spur. This interchange is still in Milwaukee, just north of Oak Creek. You will note that I have already edited times in previous posts within this thread (executive privledges are so cool  )
7:00 AM - Leave for GMR, via I-94, the Tri-State, and I-196
10:30 AM - Arrive in Benton Harbor, Michigan (actually Stevensville, Lakeshore Drive Exit #23 off I-94) for a Cracker Barrel brunch (and potato casserole ;) )
Noon - Arrive at GMR
1:30 PM - Leave GMR
3:45 PM - Arrive at World HQ :D
So far, the caravan is...
Terry and Marilyn (Merv) - 01 Cobra
Jim and Kathy - 99 Cobra
Dick and Doreen - 03 Cobra
Jeff and Kat - Lightning
I will also contact Chicago area chapter members for an invite.
Stay tuned ...:)

Just checking on my reservations and found out that I wasn't booked for Weds. night.
So I will be joining the Thurs. gang. Any idea how long to get from Delafield to the meet area? I am almost tempted to leave early and see you at the cracker barrel to miss the traffic. If need to contact me phone # is 262-646-5910

Dick & Doreen and Jeff & Kat are not able to "tour" with us. :(
With Dan, it looks like we are down to only three Cobras.
Dan, if I can't get a hold of you tonight, we still plan to meet as previously posted on this thread. Hope to see you Thursday morning. BTW, your trip to Oak Creek from Delafield should take 35 to 40 minutes, with Milwaukee's "rush hour" traffic. I have maps of our route - be sure that I give you one. Don't forget the toll money.
:)
