Good weather has arrived. No more Shop Talks until Fall. Now, we begin the Road Trip series. We will try for various drive-in's throughout the summer. Our first one will be on Wednesday evening, May 28th. We will meet at Griffin Ford at 6:15 pm. From there, a road trip via the back roads of Waukesha County. Our final destination - the Kiltie, near Oconomowoc.

I plan to attend. I may have to bring my daily driver if I can get out of work early. Hope I can keep up, if I don't have my Cobra. Does this event happen rain or shine?
Let me know!
Thanks,
Mark ;)

Yep, this is a rain or shine event. We had a pretty good turnout even though the weather was crummy, at least it was warly in the evening.
I may be there with the Taurus if the weather is really bad but I'll be there. :)

If the weather looks good, I'll be bringing the '66. Nobody has seen her yet and she needs a little exercise.
The "R" is up on jackstands getting an exhaust "evaluation". It's WAY too quiet and needs a few more horses let loose.
If it's raining, I'll be bringing the SHO. :)

Agreed. I was thinking that exact same thing after hearing you start it in the service bay after the ice breaker. Do I hear some headers in the future?

Ford did a bang up job on that car and my only complaint is it sounds like a V-6:( until you get to about 4 grand.
Headers?!?!? Have you seen that engine bay?!?!

Aren't the 5.4 and the 4.6 the same block? If so wouldn't it be about the same as headers on a 4.6 cobra?
I guess I have no clue (shrug)

Well from what I've read Long tubes are a 10 hour job on a 4.6 cobra :) Removal of a motor mount is required. But for a N/A car the gains would probably be very significant.

The installation of long tubes in a Cobra (new line of Hookers) were detailed in this month's Mustang Monthly (of all magazines). Lots of colored pictures.
Yes, you pull the K-member. :(
BTW, the silver Cobra is ready to lead the pack this evening. Looks like it might be the first time in the wet.

Who picks these nights? It sure seems like it may rain tonight, again. Oh well, guess the farmers want the rain. If it passes before 6 PM we plan on being there otherwise will be at the next one.

Tonight will be a good excuse to bring out the SHO for a little exercise.
See you there? Back lot at Griffin, correct?
 :bna:
Wow, suprisingly, looks like I don't have much homework tonight but unfortunately I also have no car to drive. Plus, I don't know where Kiltie is anyways and I don't think my parents would let me use their cars to go on a cruise :p

That'd be sweet. Let me call my dad.
Alright - I called him. He's ok with it and he'd drop me off there, but I just want to know where you're going after we eat and stuff at Kiltie's. Cuz I need to know where he can pick me up or whatever.

I got a ride now :)
I live right off from HWY 83 in Delafield. If anybody heads south from I-94 on HWY 83 on a daily basis then they know where I live. I gotta wait for my mom's approval still though .. I hope she lets me go :) (She'll be home in a few I think) :bna:
BTW: Anybody have an idea of what time this will go to? I'm not so much concerned for curfew, but I need to do some stuff around the house and also study for a test (always study for tests late at night, I remember stuff better).
Anybody who would be willing to bring me home would get to see the 64 Galaxie 500 project my dad, brother, and I are working on :) We've started some body work on it with new sheet metal and pop rivets.

Ok - I got it figured out. My mom said that she wanted me to meet and get to know you guys before I go riding with you or something to that effect (I can kinda see where she is coming from considering all the weird stuff that happens via the net ..) but anyhow I also convinced my dad to go so we'll see you guys at 6:15. I know a Sable LS will cramp your style a bit but at least it's a Ford product ;) Next year I'll bring the Galaxie
Err, or not. After experiencing the roads the boatish Galaxie probably wouldn't take to them so kindly ;).
So what does this mean? I won't need a ride. See ya there.

Sorry we didn't make it but we were having small hail & heavy rain out here in the Hartford area so the Cobra stayed in the garage. With good weather we should have many more vehicles next time.

It was a fun night. I do believe you did get all of the characters that were there.
It was fun although Mother Nature was a little uncooperative.
Have fun at the 100th to all that are going. It should be a good time.
I'll see you all at the next outing!!

I had a great time, even considering I was starting to go sideways into most of the turns :D Me and my bald tires :) (which are getting replaced as I type this)
I even got some company for the drive home. (Chris's bro lives right near me)
Thanks to all who braved the rain, even if it wasn't in an svt.

Event planning is a challenge with the Wisconsin weather. Two years running we have had rain and this year not even a rainbow. Is there any support to changing the event name to "May SVTOA Rain Cruise". This may trick the rain gods into staying away.
I am pleased to read the posts attesting to the good time many of you had. For me rain or shine an excuse to drive the SVT is always a treat.
For those of you who did not attend we broke into two groups, each of which took different routes. And aside from a minor navigation error I made leading one of the groups it worked well. With the smaller groups it allowed the participants to stay together when traffic was encountered and eliminated the stop and wait the single large group experiences.
At our destination all in attendance were given a quantity of our new Wisconsin SVTOA Business Cards. These great looking cards were desined by Scott Sorweid a chapter members and paid for by Griffin Ford our chpater sponsor. We hope that our members will now have a new tool they can use to promote our group.
Have fun and drive safe.

I also had a good time on the kruise. It was a little on the chilly side, I had a light jacket in the car which help, but could have used some warmer ware.
This was the first long drive for my TBird and everthing went farley well untill my trip home. The alternator light cmae on as I was getting off HWY 16 at WTC. I mad it home ok but now need to find out whats wrong. At lunch time today I check the belts and everthing seeems to be ok, I think the problem is the alternator. I need to get a 60 to 90 amp unit. With the electric fuel pump and injectors, Iam probbley taxing the std 45amp altinator.
Hey guys -
I had a great time at SVTOA's Kiltie Kruise :D .. I was probably one of the younger if not the youngest people in attendance ;) I know that the Sable couldn't keep up with the black 03 Cobra ahead of us (haha, only what like 3x the power of us :)), but it was still pretty cool. My dad tried to at least show he had his heart in spirited driving though - he was pushing it hard for a 3.8L Sable at least :p. Our exhaust note was kinda out of place though .. anyways, I had fun talking to a few of you and I look forward to attending the next event. You guys sure have some nice SVTs.
thhodges: I saw you had your T-bird going pretty good there ahead of us
Hope your alternator issue gets sorted out. Your problem kinda reminds me of what happened with my computer and my power supply. I got a new video card (Voodoo5 for you computer gurus) a few years ago but I had a pretty wimpy 200 watt power supply and my computer wouldn't even boot because the Voodoo5 had fans on it and they were drawing enough current from the power supply that the other stuff couldn't power up. Weird indeed, but it got sorted out after I bought a 350 watt power supply.
Hopefully I can upload some pics for those who couldn't come tomorrow. I would tonight but I need to help my dad with the Galaxie (we're getting new tires tomorrow :D, gonna bring the rims in to Farm and Fleet to have them mounted) and I also need to write a speech for English.

I think we should change the name of the Kilte Cruise to the SVT Spring Showers Cruise. All kidding aside I had a great time!!!!!! It was a little strange being a navigator for my son, its more fun driving then riding. I also enjoyed the stop at the Kilte, food was good and talking SVT cars with the members was fun.
Maybe some thursday evening we should get together
in my area at Waynes. Waynes is a drive-in and they have a open car show on thurs. If it sounds good I cuold check and see if we could reserve some spots for our WISVTOA members. Post a message so I could get some idea of the interest level.:)

I didn't see georgie porgies on the list. Were there plans for a saturday night cruise there, or just an unofficial meeting maybe?
