Well, I've decided to take it upon myself to start thinking about building my engine up. Screw that Supercharger crap! ;) I wanna build a powerful N/A'ed 4.6L

I started Monday, by picking up some 96 Heads off of ebay for CHEAP. I was going to get them ported out, and matched up to the FR500 Cam Kit (includes all new valves and springs too) ( Will order it one of these months ),

Then I started to think, as long as the heads are off it, and the engine is out.... I saw summit has a nice engine rebuild kit for $750, I'll look up the part number when I get home, but it includes all the gaskets, seals, and pistons for a stock bore, .20 or .30 over bore job. So then I'd just pick up some Modmax Rods.

Ohhh, yeah, then while the engine is out, might as well slap on some BBK Long Tubes and a Shorty X.

This will be a nice project for over winter....
Who wants to loan me some money???

On second thought....

Now, I'm probably gonna either save for a 5.0 Cammer, or a downpayment on a 04 Mystichrome Cobra.

:bna:

From what I've read of Summit's rebuild kits, they're HyperEutonic setups, not all forged. I'm talking about the actual "summit brand" rebuild kit they offer. I had thought about that option as well in looking at the price, but the way I look at it. If you're going to have it all apart, put the best components you can afford in there. That way you're not starting with something that will be a bottleneck right away.

I know it's just my opinion, but for engine internals I would always buy plenty more than I'd ever plan on needing. It just leaves your options that much more open for the future, weather that involves a power adder or not.

So with that in mind... go forged everything, and do it right the first time.
