Thanks for posting your response Brett. It should be a great time. We are still putting together the final details but it would help greatly if those who plan on coming to post so we can plan accordingly for food, formation of race classes, etc.

We want to stress that if you haven\'t been to the track before, BEGINNERS ARE VERY WELCOME. We will take very good care of you as far as track procedures and instruction. Like Brett said, it will be a gas, once you try it, you\'ll be hooked.

An added attraction is that this date is also Ford Fun Day at Great Lakes so there will be a lot of friendly blue ovals running with us.

If you should have any specific questions regarding this event don\'t hestiate to post them here or e-mail me directly.

Hope to see you there!

Thanks

All cars require a coolant \"catch can\" or recovery bottle (most cars have one from the factory) long sleeve shirts, long pants, and you need a helmet if you can run 13.99 or quicker. We do rent helmets but they go fast, we cannot guarantee there will be any for your use. As far as other requirements, unless your car is heavily modified, you will pass tech with ease. If you want to run slicks, you need a driveshaft safety loop.

That should just about cover it.

Count me in! Unless it\'s raining of course.

I should have been more clear- a T shirt is ok, I meant to say no \"muscle shirts\". You have to have at least a short sleeve shirt. Short pants are NOT allowed however...

I understand it\'s the rules of the track, and I should not question them any further...

...because I completely understand all the protection those 6 inches of thin cotton fabric will give my shoulders over the conventional muscle shirt :) :D

I don\'t make the rules. :D

I am also going to be there on the 11th. Where should we meet and who do we see about instructions for first time racers? What are the rules for bringing children to the track or for \"ride alongs\" on the track? Thanks.

We will have an area set aside for the SVTOA, you won\'t miss it. Kids can only ride along if they are wearing a helmet, and you keep the ET above 13.99 and the MPH below 100 MPH. As far as info for new racers, we will hold a \"driver\'s meeting where we will offer a few pointers to the group. We also have a FAQ page on the track website:

For those of you attending the event there is a $5.00 discount given to all SVTOA members. This discount is available for this event and any time in the future you visit. To obtain the discount you need to show your SVTOA membership card. If your current card has expired and the new one not arrived or your a new member and have yet to receive a card do not despair. SVTOA has at my request sent to Great Lakes Dragaway a listing of all WI and IL members so if you don\'t have card simply give your name at the gate. For other discounts visit the Member Discounts forum elsewhare on this board.

Just a reminder that the $25.00 admission listed in the flyer that was sent out for this weekend\'s event already takes into account the $5.00 discount. Normal admission for weekend racing is $30.00.

Look forward to seeing everyone there. :)

Yep, I\'m still coming to this one.I hope that I\'ll have enough insulation to fend off Lightning strikes, and enough antivenin to keep you Cobra boys at bay. You\'ve got to admit, having a guy with a Camaro SS in the local chapter of the SVTOA is going to make things more interesting.;):P

Well, I\'m gonna do my best to make it. I\'ve got a new roommate moving in this weekend, but hopefully we\'ll get all of his stuff taken care of tonight and tomorrow.

I\'m looking forward to this big time. I\'ve made some changes to my car and I want to see how she\'s going to respond. I\'m hoping to set a personal best for \"all motor\" times.

See everyone there!

Well . The weather is looking to be in our favor. It would be nice ti have it a bit cooler.... The morning runs should be quick and the dusk runs. As long as the track stays dry and clean.
Got the bottle filled yesterday and performend a test run....

It will be fun!!!

See you all there...
