On my way to the emissions testing station today... I pull a CEL light.... yet my car is running perfect.
I get the code pulled from their code scanner at the Testing Station... P0300... Cylinder Misfire... so they failed me.
I'm like, listen to it, does it sound like it's misfiring??!! NO. *shrug* Stupid incompetent people.
Beautiful. Just beautiful.
Well I just turned 60,000 and I think it still has stock plugs and wires.... so I might as well change them now....
So I just ordered some Taylor 10.5mm Plug wires, and I'm gonna pick up some copper Autolite 764 plugs tonight.
Hoping that its just a bad plug or wire that caused a small misfire that my ECU just happened to pickup.

These emissions checks are just a waste of time, I can't believe they really are reducing air emissions. Especially given the cost to run the whole inspection program

I recevd a notice early last week that I would have to get the TBird tested for emmision.
Well it failed big time.!!! so I pulled all the plugs out to see if I could get a Idia of what was wrong. plug 4,7&8 were black.
So I took off the upper intake and thruttle body. when I did I found mousture (oil) on the insolator around the three back runners. I guess I did not get it toqued down correctly and the PVC valve had poped out of it rubber boot on the intake.
this would account for the back three clynders getting oil on them.
I put in a new set of plugs and also replaced the EGR valve. Will need to redue some rmp fuel values and take it back again to see how it goes this time.
Have a question about vaccum readings. at idle and about 750 rpms I and getting around 7.5 to 8 lbs of vaccum. If I bypass the EGR valve, the value jumps up to around 12 to 14 . is this normal??? do I still have a vaccum leak some where??
