Next weekend the Milwaukee Auto Show will be starting. As a member, I've been asked by the Northwood's Shelby Club to represent the newest Shelby by bringing my GT500 to show for the nine days of the event. They will have a Shelby Mustang displayed from every year.

My Nephew came to work today to help me prep (Ok, he did most of the work) the car for the event. We started out with a wash, clay bar, (you'll be happy to hear Chris!) re-wash and wax. All I can say is Damn! She hardly looks like she's ever been on a race track!

Kind of gives you an idea of how my new race shop is coming along also! :D

The event staff requires all cars to have less than a 1/4 tank of fuel (I wonder if that's to make them more dangerous in case of fire?!?) so I was trying to figure out how to get the tank emptied seeing Road America was shut down for the Winter! I tried putting a hose down the filler neck but didn't have any luck doing that. Marv tells me there's some sort of a trap door that prevents vagrants from stealing your fuel. (which I thought was a pretty cool idea!!) So I thought of pumping the fuel out with the fuel pump or disconnecting the fuel gauge. Unfortunately stuff like that just isn't as easy with this car like it was in the good old days. So, after talking to Marv (he was going to look into the fuel system wiring) I just decided to rip out the rear seat and pull the fuel pumps out of the fuel tank and siphon the fuel out from there. It worked pretty damn good! Imagine that! You no longer have to drop the fuel tanks in order to change the fuel pumps!!! I wonder who the genius was that finally figured THAT one out?!!?!

So if any of you are planning on going to the Milwaukee Auto Show you'll see my car there.

Congratulations Bruce on showing your car at the Auto Show this year. Before I left for AZ, I also saw your car on the TV commercials for the show. Way to represent!

Good call on the clay and wax job, it looks great. I wish I could make it to the show to see it. When Mark and I had our cars there to show, they made us have a quarter or less of a tank of gas and they also made us install a locking gas cap. Are they making you do the locking cap?

Have fun at the show, it is a great time. Please post some pics from the show of your car and the Shelby display. I am sure that those who can't make it would like to see it (like me!).

Dean:

You meant to say the plural of Corvettes, right! :D

Great suggestion, but too hard to monitor and replay on a continuous basis. :( I don't want to LIVE down there!

I agree, it would be an awesome touch to an awesome display of Shelbys!

Curt:

I don't think I'll be at the show on Monday unfortunately. There is another GT500 on the 3rd floor in the Ford booth and it also is roped off to keep the "over enthusiastic" in check I guess?

The Shelby Club has a VERY nice display down there on the second level. It's a nice large area and there is a great display of Shelby's in a rainbow of colors. A Shelby from every year produced is in the display.

My shop is a nice roomy 4,000 sq ft. I have a wash bay, a display area of front for the '66 and the '89 SHO and the GT500 (Winter storage) and Summer storage when I'm not driving it, a bathroom, a small office that I hope to have a small desk with an internet connection in there that I can keep track of all the car stuff (mods) I'm selling, a lift, (soon to be installed, a kick butt stereo) :bna: which will be very welcome after having to put up with my pathetic Wally World boom box! :(

I'm waiting until it warms up in Spring so I can seal the floor and get some storage shelving in there too. It's coming along nicely though. I love the lift. I can't believe I waited this long to install one?!?! :wtf:

I've got a couple of more pre-show photos here to share. Saturday I forgot to take my camera so I have yet to get "show" pics! :(

Here's the car in the freight elevator going to the second floor to the Shelby Display:

Then in position for the display:

Here's the row of Shelby's. Yet to appear is the 1965 GT350!

The plastic has been removed covering the carpeting on the floor. The cars have been chained off also.

I hope to get some pics from down at the show sometime this week!

What did the Shelby GT500 and the Ford Reflex (concept car) have in common at the Milwaukee Auto Show? Ford won two big awards for excellence in display at the show for these two vehicles.
