As you may or may not know Ford established this past fall the Ford Performance Group by combining Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT), Ford Racing Technology and the company’s Vehicle Personalization organization. This past week the organization contracted by Ford for managing SVTOA was replaced by the group that has been handling Team Ford Racing. With that change many of the people with the prior management group will be employed by the new group. To some extent the selection of the new management group was not a surprise as purchasers of new SVT product in 02 have been receiving free one year memberships in both Ford Racing and SVTOA.
I suspect Ford is trying to economize by using the same management company to handle both groups. Also, we will likely see some of the vendor discounts from Ford Racing be made available to SVTOA. Other changes and the advantages/disadvantages this new management arrangement will bring are not apparent to me at this time.
What do you think this change will mean to SVTOA?

While we may see some extended benefits, I hope we will remain exclusive to SVTOA. While I enjoy and support Ford Racing, that was not the reason I purchased a SVT vehicle. I purchsed my Cobra because of it's outstanding performance value and exclusivity. SVT has'nt let us down up to this point and I don't expect they will here either:confused:

I do not think at the chapter level we will see any changes in the way our gorup is run. hope fully we will see some of the additional discounts. like some of the driving schools. or could we have a SVTOA outing at the Chicago Motor speed way:) , during a CART event. How about driving a lap around the Milwaukee mile??? I have been a member of TFR for two years and I just joined SVTOA This month.

Now that would be a sweeeeet event. Only thing is I bet you'd have to sell your right arm to get a group in there.

That would be a great time. I use to work in the safety crew years ago at the Milw. Mile. & I remember the Corvette Club did that before a big race. Maybe Ford would want to show off their SVT products too. I bet our WISVTOA Club members would. How about when the CART comes to town for their night race? Lots of infield parking & a chance to have a cook out too.
JS had story on all the Fair Park Races this next summer.
Still would like to see us at the CART night race driving a lap or 2 around the track before the CART race.
